Well, I wasn’t joking when I mentioned my largest (literally—see me peeking over the top!) commission yet, for a lovely Notre Dame family’s new condo a stone’s throw from the football stadium. When I received the request last spring, Art and Emily had no idea I was a Notre Dame alum, too, or that Art and I overlapped by a year as undergrads (me the older one!), and that he lived in the same dorm Jack calls home now. So many e-mails and photos flowed between us as the paintings progressed, and last month a delicious bottle of champagne flowed, too, at a sweet happy hour Emily hosted for us as George and I delivered the paintings. Here we are, Art, Emily, yours truly, and George.

All this—a wonderful creative stretch for me working so large, another chance to paint my beloved Notre Dame, and a new friendship—from Emily’s internet search for original Notre Dame art. She found the dinner plate sized painting I’d created for Jack’s first Christmas as an admitted ND student, and asked for something similar. Just a touch bigger, though (!), and with Art’s old Honda Civic instead of Jack’s Corolla.

The original takes pride of place in Art and Emily’s living room, but a composite image can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/notre-dame-avenue-anne-lewis.html
